Diabetes Education Group
This group offers you an opportunity to become familiar with and develop skills to manage your diabetes condition. The program has been developed to complement the information and care provided by your GP. The Diabetes Educator, Dietitian & Podiatrist regularly conduct small group sessions.
This group runs over 3 sessions, with a fourth session introducing the diabetes support group for ongoing support.
Sessions are held in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
This program offers you an opportunity to learn and develop skills in diabetes self-management whether you are newly diagnosed or needing to get back on track with your diabetes control. Having diabetes can be challenging, but by having the knowledge and skills you will be able to understand your treatment, problem solve, make the right choices and work with your doctor to achieve optimum diabetes control. This is essential to reduce your risk of diabetes complications and stay well.
The program is delivered by our diabetes team that consist of a diabetes educator, dietitian and podiatrist.
The program involves:
Comprehensive individual assessment
3 hour per week workshop over 3 weeks.
Optional membership to Whitehorse diabetes support group

Can you use this service?
Our diabetes education group is for people who have diabetes, their family and friends who work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise this service for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards
