Occupational Therapy

whcs-ot.jpgThe occupational therapy service assists the frail aged and people with disabilities - including age related conditions - to maintain maximum independence and involvement in everyday activities and to remain in their homes safely. The occupational therapists provide assessment and advice within programs at WCHS and within peoples' home environments to assist in making daily living easier.

The information that occupational therapists can provide includes education on ways of doing activities in an easier and safer way, and also information on what equipment and modifications of the home environment can enable greater safety and independence in everyday activities.

If appropriate, the occupational therapists can also assist in accessing services and funding sources for equipment and home modifications.

About our Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists aim to make people as safe and independent as possible in all their daily activities, and to feel at home in their community. Occupational Therapists can advise on home modifications, equipment and alternative methods to make daily living simpler and safer.

Our service also offers occupational therapy for children aged between birth and school age (0 - 6 years) as part of our Children's Services Team.  This service provides assessment, individual therapy and group therapy programs.  To find out more detail about our services for children please click here.
