Community Participation
WCHS believes that community members have a right to contribute to the way health services in their local area are planned, delivered and evaluated. WCHS is committed to partnering with community members to seek advice and ideas and to incorporate this into the organisation’s decision making and service delivery.
This is in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO) which defines community participation as the “process by which people are enabled to become actively and genuinely involved in defining the issues of concern to them, in making decisions about factors that affect their lives, in formulating and implementing policies , in planning, developing and delivering services and in taking action to achieve change” (WHO 1999 ).
Our Vision is to work in partnerships to reduce health inequalities in the Whitehorse Community. As a member of the community, there are a number of ways you could get involved.
1. The Community Advisory Group (CAG)
The CAG consists of community members partnering with our management team, and they contribute and participate in a number of activities relating to services provided to the local residents.
